2tall - The Softer Diagram - Out Now
Submitted by honna on Wed, 2008-07-23 03:45.I just heard this is now shipping from Content / Samplist.com & will be in stores on July 29th. I don'tthink 2tall needs much introduction but I'll throw out a few things anyway. He was featured on numerous Turntable Radio Shows (see the previous post), give a listen to Shifting Tides, my personal favorite, check out Senses Overloaded (free ep 2tall & lamont) & he is the man behind the Cuts Of Culture series featuring his tracks and tons of other great scratch tracks from people all over the world. Oh and some of his tracks have been included in The DayMakers Podcasts here on tablist.net. His approach to music and I think his focus (scratch vs production) has changed. It all still has the 2tall sound & feel. The Softer Diagram is available now from Samplist.com and will be available in stores July 29th. Its released on the Content Label, & is probably somewhat limited so get it while you can. Check out some Samples Here.

Mr. Trick, Taking it back.... Old School Turntable Radio - Check it.
Submitted by honna on Sat, 2008-07-12 16:08.
If you haven't heard already the gang over at turntable radio is re-releasing their old Turntable Radio episodes every week. They have always been available in real media format, but now they are mp3s. Weather you haven't heard these shows since they were new or you've never heard them at all, this would be a good time to check them out. These shows have been a huge inspiration and resource for me. I seriously doubt tablist.net would be around if I wasn't able to hear so many dope artists making scratch music. So big up to Mr. Trick & Laurent for making it happen.
WaxFactor - Sci Fu - Free download from Rhythmic Incursions...
Submitted by honna on Mon, 2008-06-09 19:49.So you didn't get Waxfactor's Sci-Fu album? Your missing out for sure. A track from the album, Sci Fu Ism, was featured on the 1st DayMakers Mix. That was just a small taste of what you'll find on this album, in addition to Waxfactor, there are tracks feeaturing 2tall & Mista Ed. The Rhythmic Incursions gang has made this entire album availabe for free download, 320kbp mp3, with artwork & a bonus mix. First I suggest you head over to the Rhythmic Incursions site and download the album, while your there have a look around there is tons to see and hear. Second if your digging the album they very kindly gave you for free show them some love. By this I mean buy some of the other releases or simply donate some money to Rhythmic Incursions. There is a form on the site (right side).
Waxfactor's 1st album, The Game Face EP, is available from bleep.com, check the original version of Reggaenomics, I prefer this version to the one on Sci-fu. There are others that were featured several older Turntable Radio episodes.
Speaking of Turntable Radio, Big up & thanks to Mr. Trick & Laurent for 5 years of Turntable Radio. Personally TTR has been a very good way to find new & dope turntable / scratch music as I'm sure it has been for tons of you. Be on the look out for their 5th anniversary podcasts (audio & video).

Dday One - Heavy Migration - Lp - Out now *Updated*
Submitted by honna on Tue, 2008-02-26 04:29.*Update* - Content Label is now shipping this, so go get it!
So the guys at Content have been staying busy, they recently released the Signal Path compilation, and a forthcoming album from 2tall. The reason for this little chunk of words is to let you know about Dday One's latest release, Heavy Migration. Out this month on the Content Label (limited vinyl) & P-vine (digital, Japan). I've learned that the limited release is a double edged sword & these don't last long. On the one hand it is nice when you get one of these limited releases knowing you are one of the few. On the other hand if you don't have one it sucks. I missed out on the Loop Extensions LP, Dday One's first album, I have the mp3's from bleep.com and that will have to do. So you see I speak from experience when I say you should order this quick. On that note I have a few copies of the Dextah / Dday One split 7", I believe everyone else is sold out. Here is some information from the One Sheet & some audio:
The idea of the “perfect beat” may be beyond a doubt unattainable, nevertheless it has and will continue to provide beat-makers with a life long objective. This project came into being through a course of contemplation, growth and reverence, all out of the persistent search for this idea.
Heavy Migration deals with the movement of sound from one medium to another, but beyond that it represents growth. Reminiscent of humans who migrate, sounds retain traits established from their origin (pitch, cultural markers, ambiance of the original recording session, etc). Groundwork began late 2006, when sounds were compiled from various sources including traditional and handmade instruments, older and contemporary data formats but principally vinyl records dealing with ethnomusicology (study of music from a global context). As with previous projects, sounds where sampled, manipulated and meticulously arranged. Recording took place during spring to winter 2007.
