Hey look, free music. TheLin just put out this free ep, Metal On Metal. Its five tracks of beats, scratches & a couple feature an mc. It's a bit different than his last release, Chase & The Birdhouse. ProF, of iNSiDEaMiND, has a new ep coming out this summer. The first single from The Superorganism will be available for download starting tomorrow, March 17th on ProF's myspace page. The track is A Life Force, sounds pretty chill, with some head nod mixed in, look out for the single & more details as I get them. Check the video clip below & some info from the press release.
As a member of renowned turntablist act iNSiDEaMiND, ProF (born Cheldon Paterson a.k.a dj Vision) is definitely no stranger to bending minds. With a well rooted background in vinyl manipulation, he brings a new flavour to the scratch. One part tactician, one part time traveler, this guy twists and turns up beats to unexpected depths with his melancholic samples and off-time tricks. So its been more than a minute since I've paid any attention to a battle of any kind. There are some pretty good videos circulating on youtube & myspace and so on. This is a solid album all the way through. It's one of the dopest scratch albums I've heard in a while. Its all constructed from turntables and samples. Los Angeles based producer Dday One sets the
tone with “Sense of Balance” which combines
tranquil flutes and heavy drums creating the
melodic union of solitude and chaos. The next
contribution comes from Dextah the Chicago
native now residing in Los Angeles via the Bay
Area. In the form of “Untitled #541” Dextah
channels the energy of a classic Bomb Squad
track with punk aesthetics.
This project is strictly limited to 500 copies that
are hand numbered. The design + photography
is inspired by the song titles, which are
exclusive to this release.
Hand numbered, A few copies are autographed
by Dday One. (Those ones are gone.)
